What is dental tourism?

Dental tourism, or dental vacation, is a concept in which an individual seeks dental care in India. because of the low cost of care in that locale. Tour packages are available to accommodate Americans who are looking for good dental care at third-world costs. This vacation trend is becoming more and more popular now.

Why do people travel outside of the United States for dental care?
Some Americans’ health insurance plans do not include dental coverage. Other people may not have any insurance and may not be able to afford dental care. Dental work can be completed for less money in INDIA—sometimes at less than a tenth of U.S. prices

Where are dental services offered?
Popular destinations for dental tourism trips include India, Africa, Mexico, Thailand, Hungary, and Costa Rica. Among which India has the high standards of sterilization and qualification.

What can I expect from a dental vacation?
A large amount of dental work can be done within a short time frame during a dental vacation.
In the United States, dentists may plan to complete dental work over a number of months. On a
dental vacation, patients will get months of work completed within a few weeks. However, there may be a language barrier. If a foreign dentist does not speak English, and you don’t speak his or her language, it may be difficult to discuss treatment plans and patient expectations.

Do insurers cover treatments performed on dental vacations?
Most insurance companies only pay benefits for services rendered outside the country during emergency situations. But there are companies that will pay for services wherever they are rendered with some stipulations. Some insurers have begun to offer referral services to help Americans locate English-speaking
dentists in foreign countries.

Do Indian dentists comply with the same standards as U.S. dentists?
Many of the indian dentists are now following high standards as in U.S.
Indian dental association keep monitoring the standards of all dental clinics. even though not all the dental clinics are following the same. so you have to be picky in choosing your dentist.

common myths and misconceptions regarding the DENTAL IMPLANTS

                                          MYTHS ABOUT DENTAL IMPLANTS

This blog explains about the common myths and misconceptions regarding the DENTAL IMPLANT treatment procedures.

As many people know, Implants are taken over replacing dentures for replacement of missing teeth and hence rumors and scary stories will arise among the population.

Now with recent advanced technologies, dental implants are excellent and long lasting replacement for missing teeth.

Some of the common concepts and myths are as follow:

Dental IMPLANT procedure is much simpler treatment than extracting a tooth.  The procedure will be done under local anesthesia. Hence there won’t be any pain or discomfort. Post treatment, there will be mild discomfort, which will be subsided by taking medicines for 3 days.

Dental Implant is made up of a highly bio-compatible material called TITANIUM. Hence there will be no side effects.

This is highly incorrect. Dental Implants are very strong and even stronger than the natural teeth. Because they are integrated in to jaw bone, they are the best option for replacement.

Few arguments suggests, dental Implants are only for young and healthy individuals. Dental Implants can be done for elderly people, can be done even under medical conditions like diabetes, hypertension, etc., provided should be under control. Dental implants can be done even for heavy Smokers.

There are many advantages with this type of dental Implant…

·         Immediate loading Dental IMPLANT procedure is simpler than an Extraction or a Root canal treatment.
·         Fewer visits.
·         Single piece implant system, hence no problems like screw loosening.
·         Fixed teeth given maximum in 3 days.
·         No waiting period for teeth placement.
·         Life time warranty.
·         Highly bio-compatible.
·         Non- invasive
·         No complicated sinus lifts or bone grafting procedures.
·         Very less risk of implant failure.
·         Implant placed immediately after extraction and fix teeth in 3 days.
·         Patient convenience, since no surgery.

·         Cost effective than other type of implant system

Bicortical Implants (BCS) - Advanced Implant solution

Single piece Implant, being a single component, has no joints or a connecting screw, No screw loosening problem.

Thin and polished surface:
Smooth long shaft of the Implant body makes it virtually impossible for bacterial colonization along the Implant body. Helps avoid Peri implantitis which is the commonest problem encountered by conventional implants leading  to their failures. So no risk of peri-implantitis and bone loss.

Completely avoids the risky bone augmentation procedure.

Avoids the time delay associated with bone augmention procedure and also the expenses.

Immediate loading procedure,which means ..
-The patient get the fixed teeth immediately in 2-3 days .
                         -No intermediate dentures,no edentulous phase.
                         -Extremely good patient comfort.
-The patient can start eating the food immediately.

Complicated and expensive sinus lift procedure can be avoided.

One simple and straight forward flapless procedure. Surgical procedures are not necessary, which means .. immediate extraction and implant placement is possible with immediate fixed teeth. No need for a second uncovering surgical procedure which is necessary in conventional two piece implants.

No screw, as such no screw loosening occurs.

No crestal bone loss, no marginal leakage between Implant components.

The abutment portion can be favourably positioned to craft an esthetically and functionally acceptable prosthesis which mimics the natural teeth in its construction.

Basal Implant treatment in india

The basal implantation technique can be summarized in five points:

  1. All patients who request the implants can be treated, without exception, regardless of the extent of bone loss or the presence of absence of residual teeth.
  2. Only a single surgical appointment is required. Basal implants are loaded and splinted immediately or early using long-term provisional bridges. In some cases it is possible to provide the definitive bridge immediately, in other cases the first bridge serves as a long-term temporary.
  3. The low number of surgical and other treatment steps reduces overall cost. Rapid and effective measures can be taken should complications occur.
  4. Basal implants hardly interfere with the blood supply to the host bone, at any rate much less than comparable conventional implants.
  5. Because basal implants can be immediately loaded, patients can quickly resume their normal lives.

Before the advent of basal implants, all patients with an insufficient on supply for immediate placement were forced to undergo the following extensive treatment.
Removal of all teeth (if required); removal of all granulation tissue, cysts and other undesirable residue from the bone.

Bone augmentation approximately 2 months later (with potential problems not unlikely to occur at the donor site), followed by a 3- 6-month waiting period
Insertion of axial implants (screw implants)

Finally, after another 3- 6 months, insertion of the bridge or other prosthetic superstructure.

In addition to this already tedious treatment plan, soft-tissue corrective measures frequency have often to be taken. Surgical risks accumulate throughout this four-step treatment phase: Despite all efforts and despite all the published claims, the clinical success of dental implantological treatments becomes unpredictable as soon as bone augmentation is required.

The conventional axial implant procedure created a paradoxical situation for most patients: For many months they were forced to do exactly what they were trying so hard to avoid, namely to wear a removable denture. And in many cases things were even worse: There were often times when not even the removable denture could be worn, specifically after the bone augmentation procedure and/or following the insertion of the implants, during the first phase of the waiting period.

"Basal Implants" - No more bone grafting

                                          WHAT IS “BASAL IMPLANTOLOGY”?

The term “basal implant” was brought into our profession approximately in 1998. It reflected the idea and the principle, that the load transmitting surfaces of implants should be positioned in basal bone areas, because these areas are stable and the bone there is not prone to atrophy. The bone that survives everything and is present after many edentulous years was utilized.

“Basal bone” is the bone which will not be resorbed throughout life, it is structurally needed. Typically it is not the alveolar bone created during teeth eruption and for teeth. Note however that crestal cortical bone resorbs or re-locates during the resorbtion process which is called atrophy.

Another aspect of basal implantology is the usage of cortical bone areas. Cortical bone should be used for implant anchorage for good reasons: bones typically consist out of a strong, highly mineralized outer cortical and an inner portion of bone, called “spongious bone”. While cortical bone areas are structurally needed and always repaired, spongious bone areas are (from the bones mechanical point of view) not needed.

- One reason why implantologists should preferably utilize corticals, is that cortical defects created during the implant surgery are always repaired. This promotes/guarantees the implants integration.

- Another reason is, that cortical bone is highly resistant due to its high mineralization, allowing immediate loading protocols.

In the last decade the combined usage of basal and cortical bone areas with the help of BOI® /TOI ® implants and elastically designed basal screw implants (BCS®, GBC ®) has been introduced in dental profession.

Hence the old term “basal implantology” does not cover all principles behind this concept. We better describe the technology today as “cortico-basal implantology”.

Today elastic basal screw designs are used in combination with lateral basal implants. Basal implantology has made implantology free from the ties of the mandible and the maxilla, it works independently from bone being present in those bones. Today we utilize bone areas of the maxilla, the mandible, the sphenoid bone and the zygomatic bone.

What once has started with “BOI®”, has become a movement based on deep surgical knowledge, on the thorough knowledge of the bone`s properties, and on consequent application of a prosthetical protocol.

                SINGLE PIECE IMPLANT
                         TWO PIECE IMPLANT
Implant and abutment are fused. They are manufactured as one piece.

Implant and abutment are separate. The abutment is either cemented or cold welded. If abutment is secured with a screw onto the implant, then it is considered to be 3 pieces
Design is simple, no joints, single piece.
Design is complex, 2 parts joint by screw.
Single sitting surgical procedure and very often flapless (no open surgical procedure). Implant procedures are less time consuming than that required for bridgework.
Very often more complex surgical procedures are necessary, spread over 2 or 3 sittings in a period of 3-6 months. ( Implant placement, healing screw placement and abutment placement.
A wide range of sizes and designs are available. Suits various bone types and measurements. The design even help to avoid bone augmentation and sinus lifts.
Limited size and designs are available thereby limiting their application.
Immediate Loading- ie; patient can be given crowns / bridges the very next day.
Delayed loading- very often a waiting period of minimum 3 months is necessary after loading the implant with prosthesis.
Much cost effective when compared with 2 or 3 piece implants.
Expensive with respective to cost of implants as well as time taken for treatment procedures.
From patient point of view, less complex treatment procedure, less number of sittings, crowns / bridges can be cemented on a day or two.
From patient point of view, more number of sittings, Crowns/ bridges cemented only after 3 months after healing phase. Expensive.
There is no screw loosening since there is no separate abutment-screw-implant assembly.
Screw loosening is very common. Being 2 piece, the relation between root portions and abutment can present many problems.
Maintenance is very simple. Being 1 piece, strength provided by implant is excellent and there is no separate root portion and abutment portion.
Maintenance is more complex. Very often screw has to be tightened at periodic intervals as there will be micro movement between implant and abutment.

"Placing an implant by Painless and Flapless technique"

Flapless Implant Placement is the Placement of Implants into the bone without soft tissue flap reflection. That is without surgically cutting the gums.

When dental Implants are placed by raising the mucoperiosteal flap, there is an associated bone loss at the site.  Leaving the periosteum intact on buccal and lingual aspects of the ridge maintains a better blood supply to the site, reducing the likelihood of resorption.

Flapless technique may be considered in conjunction with either single stage or immediate loading Implants.

Many ADVANTAGES for both the patient and the surgeon:

  • Minimally Invasive.
  • Reduces post operative pain.
  • Minimized bleeding.
  • No stitches necessary.
  • After the tooth is given, there is no gum shrinkage that causes gap between cap and gums.
  • Accelerated post surgical healing.
  • Reduced operative time.
  • Increased patient comfort and satisfaction.
  • Decreased bone resorption.
  • Ridge contour can be preserved.

Immediate loading KOS dental implants in India

    Different types KOS dental Implants

KOS implants are single piece immediate loading implants

These implants simply manufactured as a single piece rather than a complicated two piece or three piece implants

These implants act as a compression screw and gain its strength by a process called corticalization, hens it can be immediately loaded.

Spongy bone becomes condensed whenever compression screw implants are inserted. The process of condensing is described as CORTICALIZATION.

When corticalization occurs this spongy bone act like a cortical bone which is stronger in nature. This  makes immediate loading of the KOS implants possible. So you can get your teeth back in just 3 days of time.
KOS dental implant system is made of the highly fracture-resistant Ti6Al4V ELI titanium alloy pursuant to ASTM F136.  And it is double sand blasted and surface coated with osmoactive substance which helps the bone to get adapted well with this implant

Since the KOS implants are simple system the procedure is also very simple. Most of the time just an OPG is enough to plan and proceed the implantation.
Since there is no extra added cost for abutment, screw and other parts like in two piece implants, these KOS implants comes handy in very low price

Since KOS implants got many variety and available in many sizes, It is suitable for any kind of bone conditions. These Implants can be combined with BCS implants to plan a full mouth rehabilitation.

Save upto 87% in the cost of Dental Implants

Cost Of Dental Implants In India
    Before Dental Implants

With in 3 Days After Implants

    Dental Implants In India:
Anyone who has to live with missing teeth knows that it can be a painful and inconvenient situation to deal with. We are are all born with a set of baby teeth and a set of permanent teeth cells that are waiting to develop. Some people, however, are born without all of their permanent teeth. Others lose teeth from growing older, damage or illness. Losing teeth changes your appearance and may be detrimental to your self-esteem. However, this situation can be corrected by the use of dental implants.

Dental implants are the best option for those who want to permanently replace missing teeth. These teeth can be used just like your natural teeth. They also look and feel like your own teeth.

Once you have decided to get dental implants, you must first make an appointment with your dentist for a consultation. This visit is often free. Once you have discussed your decision with your dentist, he will get some X-rays of your teeth. Depending on your insurance, X-rays may cost you nothing to $45 US dollars according to

If you want to get a best quality implants in affordable price, you can mail us your X-rays and photos of your mouth to know the best price that you can get. to
In conventional implant surgery, first a screw is implanted into your jaw bone. Once this is placed, you have to wait for at least 6 months your jaw to heel. Once healed, the new replacement tooth can be attached to the screw. until then you have to wear a denture.
But in our advanced implant system, the implants can be done without surgery (flapless). and the permanent teeth will be given with in three day. you can go back to your normal life with in 3 days just like that.
An oral surgeon is also needed to insert the implant. To receive the implant – or screw that is inserted into the jaw – the average price of a single implant in Canada runs around $2,400 , according to But in India the average Price of a single implant is $300-350, so you can save 87% for a single implant

    Immediate Loading Dental Implants

    Single visit dental implants:
    Single visit Implants

How many times have you sat through hours of tedious surgical routine at the dentist’s clinic so that your missing teeth were replaced properly? The procedure required months and cost you dearly too, leaving you wondering why technology has not advanced enough to provide a less time-consuming, more cost effective and better functioning dental implant method.

Now its time to meet the technology that you where waiting for "Single visit dental implants"

These dental implants are Advanced single piece implant system which can be immediately loaded. It means tooth can be given immediately after implant placement whereas in conventional implant system you have to wait for 3 to six month or even more in some cases.

The main advantage is that the tooth can be replaced in a single stage surgery. And it can be done even in inflamed and infected gum conditions. and there is no chance for infection of implants and implant failure.

Though dental implantology has seen many revolutions over the years, the majority of dentists in the state opt for the traditional root-form implants with the screw type portion buried into the jawbones to replace missing teeth roots. These two-piece implants require two-stage surgical procedures, sometimes even more. In the first stage bone augmentation and implant placement are done and the second stage takes place after a gap of three months or more to replace the tooth

It is like asking the patient to change their body according to the specifications of the implant. I prefer it the other way. These immediate implants help even when the complete jaw is damaged

When you compare the expense, the single piece implant costs only one third of the traditional implant surgery. And you don’t need to spend days for the procedure just 3 days is enough for you to get your smile back

    TPS - Tubero Pterygoid Screw

    What are Tuberopterygoid implants:

Pterygoid implants are implants located in 2nd molar area of upper jaw. They allow the prosthetic rehabilitation on dental implants in upper jaw. The applied forces go to the pterygomaxillar buttress area allowing immediate loading of the implants.

    Advantages of pterygoid implants:

»          Eliminates the need of sinus grafting.

»          No cantilevers from front teeth or implants

»         Efficient chewing is possible as teeth upto second molars are replaced. In cantilevers and zygomatic implant cases or in all-on -4 and all – on – 6 techniques 2nd molars are not replaced. If replaced then they are made as cantilevers which make the last implant weak and the bridge susceptible to fracture in the long run.

»         Bone in pterygoid area is cortical in nature, and hence very strong and rigid allowing Immediate loading with permanent crown in 3 days.

»          Single piece implants are used which are strong in comparision to conventional dental implants

»          All patients who want dental implants in upper jaw are good candidates as bone is always available in pterygoid area.

»         Flapless technique is used, as such patients have no swelling or bleeding and patients need not stop blood thinners, if they are taking any.

»          Lifetime warranty given as strong single piece implants are being used in strong cortical bone.

    »          100% success rate.

Zygomatic implants compared with Tubero pterigoid Implants

    Tuberopterygoid Implants Vs Zygomatic implants
    Tubero pterigiod screw
    Zygomatic screw

If you have been told that there is less bone in your upper jaw for dental implants, do not worry. The best solution for cases with severe bone resorption in upper jaw is pterygoid implant. Pterygoid implants are replacing zygomatic implants as the best solution for patients requiring dental implants for upper jaw. Such patients were going for sinus lift or bone grafts as per old techniques. In a single procedure we place pterygoid implant and place the permanent crown in 3 days. As we use single piece implants the procedure is flapless and done under local anaesthesia.

    Tuberopterygoid Implants
    Zygomatic implants
    Type of implants
    Single piece Implants is used
    Screw based implants used
    Screw loosening
No screw loosening and no crestal bone loss
    Screw loosening is a problem
    No cantilevers placed
Molars if given are placed as cantilevers, which decrease the life of the bridge and cause screw loosening on the implant.
    No contraindications
Symptom free and pathologically free sinus
    Relative risk of failure
Since sinus is not involved, no risk of sinusitis
    Risk of sinus infection
    Permanent bridge
Permanent ceramic bridge on 3rd day of implant placement, as the implant engages hard cortical bone
Acrylic/plastic for first 4 months. Then cantilever permanent ceramic bridge given after 4 months.
