DENTAL IMPLANTS UNDER CONSCIOUS SEDATION
With a focus on individualized treatment and attentive care, dentists and anesthetists at DENTA KINGS use techniques and equipment that maximize patient comfort before, during and after multiple dental implant procedures that are performed under IV Sedation.
Customized to Individual Needs
Sleep dentistry ranges from mild dental sedation to reduce awareness and gagging, to twilight sedation (also known as twilight sleep) to further improve comfort, right through to deep sedation via oral tablets, IV sedations or sometimes through mask.
After viewing the pre-operative reports, our state-of-the-art anesthetic and monitoring equipment allows our specialist anesthetists to adjust the levels of consciousness during sedation and tailor treatments to suit individual patient’s needs and desires.
Recovery from Sedation Treatments
When you wake up from sedation you are not likely to have any recollection of your procedure and will be unaware of any noises, needles or drilling; but your experience with sleep dentistry at our clinic does not end until you are discharged from our facility.
After completion of the dental procedures, patients are taken into our comfortable recovery area where they continue to be monitored for next few minutes.
How you feel post-procedure will depend on a range of factors. You will be given a personalized instruction detailing important post-operative care and recovery information that we request you to follow.
DENTAL IMPLANTS IN GENERAL ANAESTHESIA
General anesthesia is the state or condition of being completely free from pain and anxiety, through the administration of one or more general anesthesia components. Under general anesthesia at IS Dental Care, you will not feel any discomfort, pain, or anxiety – making the dental treatment a more pleasant experience for you to go through.
Why would a patient require dental treatment under general anaesthetic?
We try to avoid general anesthesia where possible. But the following patients may require it:
Young patients with little or no experience of dental treatment
Disabled patients with problems that would render dental treatment in the dental chair difficult or impossible
Patients with potentially life-threatening infections
What is General Anaesthesia?
General Anesthesia is a type of anesthesia that puts you in a state of controlled sleep (unconsciousness). You won’t respond to pain or remember what happened during your procedure, so that dental surgery can be carried out without causing any pain or discomfort as you will be asleep.
Why do I have to go to hospital for general anesthesia?
General anesthesia cannot be carried out in a dental practice as this is an unsuitable environment. Your assessment will be carried out at Queensway Dental Clinic but we have linked with the University Hospital of North Tees to allow you to undergo your treatment in a safe environment. This fulfils requirements for advanced life support and allows access to critical care facilities as well as to dedicated assistance to aid recovery and discharge of patients.
How long will I be in hospital for?
The majority of patients will be discharged from hospital on the same day as your treatment. However you will need to be under the care of a family member or friend for 24 hours after your treatment. This will be explained in the assessment visit.
Are there any risks involved?
Today’s modern anesthesiaserious problems are uncommon; however, risk cannot be removed completely. Modern equipment, training and drugs have made it a very safe procedure in recent years.
The risks to you as an individual will depend on:
- Whether you have any other illnesses– Personal factors, such as smoking or being overweight– Surgery which is complicated, long or done in an emergency.
